An Artist of Landscape
Rupert Muldoon runs a successful landscape architecture practice and is also growing in recognition as a collectible contemporary artist. But people often confused Rupert the Landscape Architect and Rupert the Painter and maintaining two online presences was also proving unwieldy and time consuming.
We worked closely with Rupert to create a brand ecosystem and digital home that could reconcile his dual identity. We created a polished brand to help him win bigger and more prestigious projects as well as take collectors along on his artistic journey.
Each practice reinforces the other. Like a work of art, a garden is designed to immerse the viewer in beauty and evoke feelings. Rigor and pragmatism are useful for painting; creative flair and sensitivity to mood are requirements for landscape architecture. We focused on these commonalities to pull together a cohesive brand.
We started with a calligraphic typeface with harmonious duality: matching architectural precision with natural organic forms. A simple wordmark, monogram, airy layouts and a rich, uplifting mustard (often present in Rupert’s work) come together to create a personal brand that feels cohesive and from the same world.Shifting light, rich shadows and an abundance of texture- the brand is designed to evolve with the seasons and draw attention to the ephemeral beauty of nature.
